No construction project is easy, but site conditions can make some more challenging than others. This elevated shopping center site was home to a stunning heritage oak tree that had to be preserved. Beneath the site’s surface, a massive section of solid blue granite required extensive hard-rock excavation before foundations were laid and construction began on the three buildings. To provide a level site for the center, a 20-foot-tall gravity retaining wall was built, which created an ideal opportunity to install a 25-foot waterfall feature.
